Wood bindings for longevity and value-added are just one more reason to avoid plastic when building high-end guitars. See option details below:

Amazon Rosewood, like Indian rosewood, is easy to work, bend, and very attractive.

  • Size: 32" x 1/4" x .094"

Cocobolo Rosewood binding can be a little brittle although some types are oily. These days with some of the new glues, few complain of problems.

  • Size: 32" x 1/4" x .094"

When finished, Curly Koa binding adds a nice sparkle to any completed instrument.

  • Size: 34.5" x 1/4" x .090"

Curly Maple binding is best to either dry bend or soak in tepid water. It tends to fall apart if boiled for bending, but once seasoned to taste, is as good as any maifun noodles. Because the curl is short grain, the pieces can break easily. It's advisable to get a few extras.

  • Size: 32" x 1/4" x .094"

Ebony binding always looks nice with a light back and side wood. Most ebony is difficult to bend, with some types being easier than others (Indian is the easiest). To be safe, you should get a couple extra in case you encounter breakage.

  • Size: x 34.5" x 1/4" x .090"

Indian Rosewood binding is probably the standard for wood bindings. Easy to work, easy to bend, and attractive.

  • Size: 32" x 1/4" x .094"

Plain Koa binding has a luster and sparkle to it, and adds a nice contrast to an Indian rosewood or maple backed guitar. It's also easier to bend than Curly Koa.
