30" X 4" X 3" size is large enough to make 2 necks. 1st grade means straight grain, no run-off, more homogenous in texture, and good quarter. Good quarter means that the grain runs at no greater angle than from corner to corner, as in the graphic above. We can provide better quarter, but the price would have to be about double. "If you take only the heart out of the watermelon you still have to pay for the whole watermelon." So they say. Note: Above was written in 2000, trees are about half the size now, so standards are no longer as high. We always aim for the above standards, but without increasing prices to much more, it's difficult if not impossible.
30" X 3" X 1" size is for stacking. Quartersawn, straight grain, choosen so that the grain matches. Two required, one for the neck/head, and one for the heel/end block.
Mahogany heel block is 6" X 4" X 3", for stacking. Quartersawn, straight grain, choosen so that the grain matches.
Please note that you will be billed for actual shipping costs on bulk neck blank orders.
