AMAZON ROSEWOOD
With Madagascar getting more and more difficult to get in decent quality (and rumored to be CITES restricted), Amazon rosewood may be the best alternative to Brazilian rosewood. From all that I've heard, Brazilian has nothing over Amazon in tonal qualities!
Harder and heavier than Brazilian, Dalbergia spruceana machines well, bends well, has a great tap, and is beautiful. Very little of this is the light colored material with the mineral in the pores. Some of it is virtually indistinguishable from Brazilian rosewood.
